The fundamental idea behind a sick room diet was that the selected food
- will provide the necessary nourishment and
- will not strain any of the digestive organs affected.
- will compensate for any waste or strain on the system
- will comply with the Doctors instruction although not necessarily the patients wishes
Feedings consisted of small portions that are taken often
serving's were made as attractive as possible
If the patient has an infectious fever all left over food was burnt.
The favourite food for invalids was beef tea, eggs and white fish
