In 1895 W Jerome Harrison who was the chief science demonstrator for Birmingham School Board wrote the science of Home Life which became the textbook on domestic economy.
In the book he listed furnishings that would be need for a three bedroomed house with 6 inhabitants - Kitchen , Living Room, Parlour, Main Bedroom, Second Bedroom, Small bedroom and entrance hall, passage and stairs.
This list is fascinating as it's detail provide us with a great insight into the life of normal people in the late 1800's
